Here is a link to a lens testing methodology
http://www.takinami.com/yoshihiko/photo/lens_test/pdml-procedure_c.html

It's from a Pentax newsgroup, but it should work with Canon equipment ;-).

It may be a little difficult to test with a body without 100% viewfinder because,
following the directions, the test targets will be outside the viewfinder of an Elan
7E.

I tried testing my 50/1.8 versus a 35-80 and the results were off because I wasn't
precise with placement of the test targets. I will also try again and post the
results.

Subject: EOS what is a good lens test?

Can
you recommend some targets, test methodology, and also a review methodology?
I also have a minolta dual scan for scanning, but am not sure if this will
be a good way to test.

I will, of course, post my results on the web for your enjoyment.
