With my 100=400, which has a 1.5m and 6.5m setting, it seems to focus
faster and hunt less when set on the longer distance, as long as your
not trying to focus close. Also, I'd think that objects passing closer
than 3m wouldn't mess with the lens's ability to focus and track. I
leave mine on the 6.5 setting, since I rarely use it closer than that.
