The EOS 3 coupled with some good glass gives lightning fast AF (like my 200/2.8L I and
300/4L I), only maybe the 1v would be faster.

The mirror in th EOS 3 is faster than the mirror in the 1n, but not the 1v... Nothing
beats the 1nRS though...

With booster, the 1v is quite a bit faster in the FPS-dept (but do you REALLY need
~10FPS? 6-7FPS is more than enough if you ask me...), the 1v doesn't have ECF (mixed
feelings among the people here, but I love it. It worked like a charm for me at the
friendly match between the Canadian and Norwegian womens national teams some weeks
ago).
The pellicle mirror on the 1nRS produces a loss of 2/3 stops, meaning a 100ASA film
gives you exposure-times like a 64ASA film etc, so night-games would almost certainly
require 1600ASA or 3200ASA film.

I'm sort of in your position, but I allready have a 3, and I'm getting a 1nRS anyway
(I collect and use). You can get 1nRS bodies second-hand from ~$750 I think (that's
what I'm paying for mine anyway)... Just so it's said, I'm VERY satisfied with my 3
(wich I bought new)...
