I agree: the 200mm f/2,8L does give decent quality with the Extender
EF2x but rather not with the 2x. I haven't used the 100-400mmL IS so
can only bas on MTF charts provided by Canon: according to them the
zoom does have an edge at 400mm over the 200mm + 2x combination.
