Hello Henry,
Thank you for your reply, and to Thom Hogan for his enlightening
discussion about the application of Nikon FP flash. My HS-sync
pictures did not come out the way I thought (likely out of range).
I went back to re-read the explanations of FP-sync.

Does Nikon FP flash work differently?
Thom Hogan's description of applications of Nikon FP flash makes
me want to experiment some more with HS-sync. But he makes it
seem as if FP flash is rather hard work!
Does "iteration" mean having to use a handheld flash meter?
Or to shoot Polaroid proofs/digital to check exposure?
Instead, can I use Canon's E-TTL Flash underexposure warnings:
pre-exposure with FEL and post-exposure on the flash itself?
Does Nikon FP-sync also give a Flash Exposure OK indication?
And is it possible to manually alter Nikon FP-flash output?
Can I rely on Canon's flash exposure compensation?
Or should I manually set one of the 8 levels of HS-power from
1/1 to 1/128?
Are there any Canon HS-sync or Nikon FP-flash users out there
who can shed some more light on this subject! :-)
Cheers
Julian Loke
