What is the best way to capture subjects in motion such as birds, runners,
etc using an Elan 7 and an IS lens, which I realize should be in Mode 2 along
with the camera in AI Servo.

IS it to get the subject in the frame and shoot as it moves across the frame
letting predictive focus capture the subject and freezing it with a high
shutter speed or intentionally blurring it with a slow one, or is it to pan
the subject, trying to keep it over the same focusing point as you pan. I
realize that the first way you dont blur the background with motion which you
would the second way. Are both these techniques intercahngable depending on
what you want the background to look like? Would one way give you a sharper
subject image than the other assuming comparable shutter speeds? I haven't
really attempted to take any action photos yet and would like to give it a
try.
