I prefer frozen subjects with high shutter speed. Blurring it
with a slower shutter speed doesn't work well for many kinds of
sport IMHO.
Getting a subject sharp while panning isn't easy a task. In
general you'll get a sharper photo with higher shutter speed
than with panning. I've taken many shots at waterpolo matches
where you need fast shutter speeds to freeze the water drops.
This sport also gives good possibilities for blurring effects
since the movement of the ball and arm are fast in comparison to
the rest of the body.
