yeah we are exactly in the same boat - i found that Acer
2740s a good bargain too. i found one at ebay refurbished
for less than $400, just don't know how good that thing is...

and just like you said, there's no where to buy it other than
Acer direct or ebay. maybe it's because it's too new? ICE
sounds like a must by many scanner users...
maybe i should really consider adding $200 to the budget to
get the nikon iv ed?
too many choices... too little cash... :"(
