I bought my Nikon coolscan III last year and I still think its the
best performer in its price range; <$500 on ebay. If you can stretch
the $$$ I'd save up for the Coolscan IV.
Digital Ice is a must even if you think your film is clean. Also
www.hamrick.com vuescan 3rd party scanner software is a must
for multiscanning and better overall results.
