hi folks,
thank you Craig, James, Patrick, Kenneth and everyone else
who responded to my question! your experiences were really
helpful! after a lot of research i decided to add a couple
of hundreds of $ (and a long face of my wife :o()into my
budget and get the coolscan iv ed. i compared the published
reviews and experiences from users and sample scans and
found this one to be the best in this price range. looked
hard at the FS4000 too and it was a great scanner as well,
its advantage over coolscan is 4000 vs 2900 dpi and it
supports scsi interface. yet the file size of 4000 file
is too huge in most cases and i really don't need it. and
my computer already doesn't have any empty expansion slot
for another add-in scsi card... give the reputation of coolscan
series scanners and 'ed' nikon glass, guess i can't go
wrong with it. oh also i heard the 'ICE3' technology works
better than canon's newly developed 'FARE',haven't seen any
side-by-side comparison yet though... anyone had experience
with both of them?
again thank you all for the great info, happy shooting!
