This is a question for the host of Elan II users out there. I am a first
time Canon buyer upgrading from my Pentax P30T. I would like to know what
are the definite advantages of choosing the Elan 7 over a used Elan II? I
have not seen either of these cameras, but the Elan II, I understand from
the net, has a few advantages like:
a better AF assist, and less problems focussing in low light
more intuitive control dials
the used one is much cheaper than the new Elan 7, giving me more money for
lenses
I shoot Sensia primarily, would be doing mostly landscape, macro, and quite
a bit of inhouse action photography with my 4-yr. old kid. One concern on
the Elan II is the DOF preview shifting it to AE lock. Since I will use DOFP
quite a bit during landscape/macro, how easy is it?
As regards lens choices, I am veering towards the 28, 50, and Tamron 90/2.8.
I have never handled primes before, so how difficult is it to forgo the
versatility of composition with zooms?
Regards
Sanjay
