Thanks, everybody, for all the input on this.  I
guess the answer above makes sense to me.  My
next question would be, do big lenses like the
28-70 L and the 70-200 L block light from a
550EX?  What about with the hoods on? (as in
daylight portraits with flash fill)  The hood for
the 28-70, for example, is almost bigger than the
lens itself.  And the 70-200 is so long with the
hood.
