Stop! Before you draw any conclusions about your equipment get yourself a
roll of 100-speed slide film such as Fuji Sensia II and shoot some test
shots with each lens. You will quickly see if you have a lens or processing
problem. Since you mention 4x6 I assume your dealing with prints. I'm not
sure about your area but around here in all the years I've been shooting
35mm I have never gotten back color prints I was happy with. Meanwhile I've
shot literally hundreds upon hundreds of rolls of slides which simply knock
my socks off on the light table... and on the big screen.
You cannot properly evaluate equipment with print film. With slides, what
you take is what you get. Even if your not "into" slides at least take a
couple rolls to determine if your equipment is working properly.
