Hello Evrim,
I bought the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L on the same week that I knew the IS version
was coming out. I figure that the "old" lens got so much praise, the new
one can't possibly be significantly better optically. The IS function is
there to reduce lens shake that cause blurred pictures, however, the optics
are already so good, I don't think Canon has actually improved on the
sharpness of this lens. However, the "old" lens has been around 6 years
now, so who knows what the lens elements are made of, with the latest
technologies available.
Me, I'm really happy with my lens. It's more than adequate for my needs and
I think my issue isn't how sharp or good the lens is, it's now a case of
good my compositions are.
I couldn't justify the additional cost of IS, the difference which I used to
buy an EF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens. Hehehe - two lenses for the price of
one IS 70-200mm.
Best regards,
Lawrance

Everybody was praising the 70-200 2.8L as one of the best zooms ever.
Didthis zoom change overnight? I am not sure what happened here but it
justdoes not make sense to me.
