I don't know if my mail's gonna be replicated like crazy, so this is going
to be brief.
I'd just like to offer my subjective opinion regarding the Tamron 24-135mm
(belongs to my friend, 3 months old) and Canon 28-105mm USM (mine, 6 months
old). I find the optics of the Tamron very capable to compete with the
Canon, it is a fine lens. The 4mm in the wide end is not to be neglected,
as the difference is big, I'm now considering a 24mm f/2.8 to complement my
28-105mm zoom. Handling wise, the focusing ring on the Tamron rotates
during AF, and you can hear the sound of the motor ;) One more thing is
that the Tamron focuses quite close to give 1:3.3 macro, nice for flowers
and butterflies.
I'm considering getting a EF100mm f/2, Tamron SP90mm f/2.8 Macro, or EF135mm
f/2.8 SF, or even Sigma 70-200 f/2.8EX, as I find the EF28-105 zoom lacking
in sharpness wide-open in the long end, and too slow for the occasional
table tennis shoots (1/60,f/4.5 @ISO1600).

BlueSky
