Nope, it was sitting up on a shelf in the entertainment center on its little
stand.  The cats can't get to it and the newborn isn't ready to walk just yet
so she's out of the picture (not literally 8^} ).  

I thought that number looked an aweful lot like a Canon manufacture date.  The
serial number would be something longer than that found on the head of the
strobe.

Anyone else with any ideas?
