No, the third exposure is NOT cancelled. As soon as you press the shutter
again it takes the third exposure. The only way i've found to cancel the
third exposure is to turn the command dial. You don't have to turn it to L
(off), any change will do, and you can change back to the original mode
immediately.

You set exposure compensation using the quick control dial on the back.

To set flash compensation, you press the 'func' button on the back of the
camera until the flash compensation symbol (lighting bolt with +/- next to
it) on the lcd has an arrow next to it. Then you turn either control dial to
set the flash exposure compensation.

The built-in flash covers a 28mm lens, and isn't very powerfull. For a 135mm
lens you'll probably want an accessory flash anyway.
