Hi Michael.

Could be dirt in the filter threads as well.  TRry cleaning 
the threads 
with an alcohol soaked Qtip.  Then if you are still getting 
the squeak,
try rubbing a small candle (b-day candle) on the threads of 
the lens and
screw in and remove filters several times.  I do this with stubborn
filters and especially hard to put on hoods both bayonet and threaded.
