Apple invented Firewire and came up with the name, which later
became known as IEEE 1394 when the IEEE certified the standard. In
fact, Apple won an Emmy award in 2001 for creating the technology.
Far as I know, Sony is the only company to come up with another name
for it with iLink.

All current-model Macs come with Firewire on-board. In terms of
older models, all desktop G4s, translucent G3s and DV iMacs amongst
others also have it.
