Hi Erwin,

You have to ask yourself what you need the second body for and if the EOS 1
will have the capabilities that you are missing or want to gain with a
second body. Good clean, moderately used EOS 1 bodies with boosters are
available for $500-600 and bare bodies $400. If you can wait for a deal,
EOS 1n bodies with boosters are out there for $700-800, I just bought a 9+
EOS 1n with booster to replace an EOS 1n/booster combo I lost overboard
(along with an EF 300 2.8L!), both boxed for $700.

The EOS 1 and 1n bodies are bullet proof, don't let a few light scuff marks
scare you off if the body is working and clean inside. These bodies can
take a lot of use and continue to operate perfectly for many many years.
IMO the EOS 1 and EOS 1n/1nRS are the best value pro class SLR bodies on the
market right now. The only way to get a better EOS mount body than the EOS
1/EOS 1n series is to buy an EOS 1v and these are selling at very lofty
prices.

The more modern bodies offer many "features" but tend to be less durable, if
this suits your style of use (lots of features and light to moderate use),
look into an EOS 3 or EOS 5QD. Alternately you could just buy another EOS
50e if you are happy with the way they work. An EOS 50e will work with all
your current gear and you won't have to learn how to use another body. But
of course you will remain limited to what this one body type can do.

Just curious, what did you find missing in the EOS 30 that the EOS 50e could
do much better?

Regards,

Chip Louie
