Don, Your 50E will do a better job with the 550EX units than the 1n. The 50E supports E-TTL (and hence, wireless ETTL as well, but no ratios). Why the hassle with cables, adaptors and extra costs??
In my opinion, you should have think about it before getting the 1n (in the case that's your main subject).
