Hmm...if I purchased the lens new would it have the chip upgrade already, or
would I have to send it in regardless? (I've got an Elan 7, btw)

> If you own an earlier EOS camera, this is not a problem and the lens may
be a good choice. Having previously owned one, I can say they're not the
most robust of lenses (typical of many of Sigmas pre-EX range), although
it's be a great choice for occasional use and it was quite good optically.

Would you say that its robustitude (hey, I just made up a word ;p ) is
comparable to the Canon 50/1.8? That's my current standard for "non-robust"
lenses...

20/f1.8. They sound like a great pair of high speed wide lenses. Maybe one
of these would complement your 24-85 even better than the 28/f1.8 would.

Actually, I'm thinking about a 28mm lens rather than a wider one because the
perspective of anything wider than 28mm is pretty dramatic--probably too
dramatic for me to use as a "normal" lens. I find the 50mm perspective too
boring, so I'm looking to go wider, but not *too* wide...although that 16mm
Zenitar fisheye looks intriguing. ;-)
