Hi Chip & Ken,
I agree with Chip and have compared notes previously as we have similar
applications. I would add that my recent acquision of the seriesII Canon 2x
has been giving me noticably better results at 600mm even when comparing
smaller prints. The setup I am using with the 1v is also giving me good and
consistent AF results with fast moving subjects. The upshot is that I am
shooting more trackside work at 600/5.6 than I was previously.
I would recommend getting the seriesII 2x if considering this combo. The
seriesI 1.4x is fine.
