OK, more questions, dammit. The seller initially told me that the EF25 tube came with a chart showing what lenses it worked with, and said that it included "all zooms up to 100-300mm." It doesn't. The 28-135 IS is not listed, and neither are any of the 75-300 zooms. I can't get the tube to work with either lens. In fact, with the 75-300 I get no viewfinder info at all.
Then, searching my archives I found the discussion on photo, net involving Chuck Westfall from Canon in which the following was asked and answered by him: >Q: Can you use an extension tube with the new Canon 75-300 image stabilization lense? >If so, what features are still operable: autofocus? stabilization? other? > >A: Yes. All features are still available, though AF is not recommended. > So what gives here? If the tube is simply incompatible with the 28-135 and the 75-300, that would be one thing, but the chart DOES list the 50/1.8 (version not specified) as a compatible lens, but it doesn't work with my early 50/1.8. So either this really is a defective tube, or the compatibility is only for the 50/1.8 Mk.II, and I just happen to have 3 incompatible lenses.
