One thing I have noticed about the D-30 with the 420ex flash is that
correct exposure is still kinda hit or miss.  I am always looking at the
shot to see if the exposure is correct then adjusting with the flash
exposure compensation on the camera.

If the subject has white or some reflective type of material in it then
you will get under exposed shots, I usually have to bump the compensation
to + 1.5 or 2.  It is REALLY bad when shooting a person wearing a white
shirt, for example.

I find this VERY annoying.  I wish there was some better method of flash
fill with these cameras and flashes.

Sigh, guess Canon is still not up to speed in flash fill...that is about
the only place I think Nikon has Canon beat.   But I'll take a Canon 1
body or a D-30 and L lenses any day over any of their competition.
