Hey Bob,

A "cunning plan" tell us what it is! AFAIK there has only been one EF 300
2.8L and there has not been any changes to the lens itself. The first
change was the addition of IS technology and this marked the end of the EF
300 2.8L non IS. All of the EF 300 2.8L lenses I have owned, (2 of them),
used (several different rentals spanning at least 4 different lenses),
borrowed (one), were in all visible respects identical as far as the design,
operation and cosmetics are concerned. When Canon makes a change they note
it on the lens plate like the EF 400 2.8L II, which is the only big "L" lens
that I have seen with this designation. Canon also will designate a change
on other lenses with the "II" marks on the body and hoods like the EF 200
2.8L II.

Regards,

Chip Louie
