Pattie, I think John's right. Unless you intend to leave your large shoulder bag in the car or something and work out of it, the amount and size of the equipment you described would probably present an uncomfortable amount of weight to carry that way. Not that it's for everyone, but last summer I picked up the LowePro Mini-Trekker and was impressed with it's ability to carry quite a load and do so very comfortably. What I like too about the Mini-Trekker is that you can "customize" it with add-ons; I have a long lens case, and a medium one (plus film pack and water bottle holder) I can add or leave off depending upon what the photo needs are, and while the pack itself is not gigantic, it will hold a heck of a lot of gear for when you're traveling "lighter".
