I'm willing to bet that's the problem! The four
contacts through which the camera communicates with an
EZ or EX flash have to be pretty clean for the system
to work. If they aren't, they don't talk well at all.

Remember to clean the flash shoe on the camera AND the
contacts on the flash. I'll bet that will solve your
problem...
