My friend and I went to do some shooting today, and her Rebel XS just quit on her. When the camera was off, it showed the film icon (since it was loaded), but nothing happened when it was switched to any mode, or when any button was pressed. The film icon did disappear when we removed the batteries, and appeared when batteries were inserted. We tried changing the batteries (3 different sets), but to no avail. The battery contacts seemed clean; I tried mounting and unmounting the lens, but this also did nothing. Anyone have any ideas, hopefully cheap ones? She's a starving college student and can't really afford a new body or expensive repairs.
