Hi Ethan
I use NPS 160 and also shoot weddings. I have a 1v, 28-135 IS USM, a 500 EX
and use P mode because my TV and AV mode do not work, ever since I bought my
!v. I could not send it back for repairs because I was using it too much.
However, I am sending it back after 2 more weddings. Am taking a break and
will have time to send it back for repairs. In P mode I experience well lit
bride and groom but the background is rather dark. Other times the
background is better lit, but not well lit. The metering seems inconsistent
even when the distances remain much the same. WITH LARGE GROUPS: I use an
on camera 500EX and another 500EX on a lightstand. However, with group
shots I experience the same problems. The photos are OK but not as great as
i would like them. I was thinking of changing to ISO 400.
QUESTIONS: In your weddings (with iso 400), do your backgrounds come out
with plenty of light? Just wondering about this. After my 1v is repaired
I was thinking of trying TV mode and see how it works to light up the
background. If that does not work I was thinking of switching to TTL.
Could you tell me what mode you shoot your ISO film in to light up the
background (don't like the black tunnel efect) and this mode successfully
lights up the background in your altar shots. If all else fails, I will get
an assistant (ouch) and use a Quantum T2 (bare-bulb) to light up the
background. Thanks for your answer. john
