Chip, (Miha, skip this section and read couple paragraphs below).
Am I wrong or why is this bashing non-Canon equipment all the time? I have been trying to not say anyuthing in fear of sounding negative, but it is getting ridicilous. Mine broke because Cameraworld of Oregon sold me a lemon. I will NEVER again post if a third party lens/whatever breaks (not that it ever did) since some people see that as an excuse to jusitfy their over priced lens choices. Not everybody needs the absolute best equipment, and not everybody goes to war zones. If Canon is so good, what is all this talk about Eos 3's having issues and esp. 28-135 having issues? I am just sick of this attitude. It is like saying buy a Mercedes to everyone looking for a car. Sure, you will have great customer service, but there are other alternatives. I called Sigma and they were vrey nice. I have also heard good things about Sigma from other sources. Miha, having used Canon 550ex and sigma 500 super, I recommend you get the sigma. Save the money and buy another Sigma 500 super for a nice system. There are many people who did this (just check dpreview.com) The Sigma is a good flash, and I recommend it. UNlike Chip, I used both systems. With every product, there are bad ones and good ones out of a batch. Sigma 500 Super is a good flash that does everything 550ex did, and also had a built in slave as extra. Yes, it does not look as fancy as 550ex, but it is half the price. If Cameraworld was not full of salespeople who care nothing about customers, I would have used it more. Anyway, feel free to ask me questions later. Oh as a side note, the arguement Chip makes about not knowing the inside of the system was true 10 years ago. Sigma and other manufacturers took some time to catch up, but I think they are finally there. evrim ps. Support alternatives that do your job if you want overall prices reduced. I wonder what the price of lenses would be like if there were not alternatives to Canon in the system.
