Hi Ken, You're describing symptoms of a bad connection. Before declaring it a definitive lemon, try cleaning the connections on both sides. Which brand of ext.tube did you get ?? Most of them are only a bypass... they just bring the EF mounting points from one side to the others. Nevertheless, my Kenko 25mm has a chip inside. Odd enough the 33mm does not.
