Aperture "00" means no connection between lens and body as we know. Order of fitting the components shoudn't matter but have you tried putting the extender first in the body? I quess you have. I would also make sure that the tube is tightened to "the end" and that the lens is also fully tight. I could be that it is especially stiff to turn the last degrees? The incompatibilities with some lenses are optical (focusing distance or vignetting), not electrical I believe. Sorry, no better quesses.
