Hi. A little off topic perhaps! I was in the UK last week and brought
my EOS-3 kit (70-200 2.8L, 28-135, 550EX etc.) I loved the display
and events in Edinburgh for hogmanay and was really glad I brought my
kit, but man was this a heavy load to travel with! I have never owned
a point and shoot but have decided to get one for these sorts of
things. Anyway it seemed to me that a digital P&S would kill two
stones so to speak. I am wondering if anyone has opinions about the
similarities (beyond the obvious) between the EOS SLR
features/implementation (AF, exposure modes, drive options, auto
bracketing etc.) and the G2. The main reason for considering the G2
is the potential similarities between it and my EOS SLR experiences,
as well as my continued happy experiences with my Canon gear - I love
my EOS-3 and 70-200 lens and, frankly, never see any reason to
upgrade or change so long as I stick to film. Digital is another
issue entirely of course hence my consideration of the G2.

Incidentally the D30 is not something I am considering at all for now
- I am mainly interested in a digital P&S with some pro features
(spot metering for example) under $1K.

Thanks!
