Hi George,

I like the Canon EF 14mm 2.8L optically but the Sigma 14mm 2.8HSM lens is a
better price by far, I'm considering one myself but am somewhat concerned
about the reported lack of overall image sharpness of this lens when used
for full frame 35mm. Some have reported that for use on a D30 camera the
image quality is OK but for 35mm it is marginal. I'm still looking for more
info or a Sigma 14mm to borrow to judge for myself but have not found one
yet.

The Canon 15mm is excellent but has an ARC motor for AF and is noisy and
slow focusing. There is a Russian 16mm fisheye for $160 USD or so that
looks pretty good, especially considering the price but it has no AF and
uses stop down metering like in the old days of SLRs. I have seen nothing
reliably reported on the Sigma fisheye though.

Regards,

Chip Louie
