Well, I can get the distance scale if the flash is mounted on the hotshoe. But if I have the flash disconnected for use as an optical slave, no distance scale appears. I can get the power ratio (1/1, 1/2...1/128), but the manual implies that you can also set the distance manually so you know where to put the flash in relation to the subject.
