The difference is I have Heliopan filters for sale on my website and no other brands. :) I'm actually surprised how many people don't know about Heliopan filters. Now to answer your question, Hoya are made from decent Japanese glass but build is so-so. B+W are made from superb Zeiss glass and built like tanks. Heliopan are similar but come in slim mounts at no extra cost. Hama and Canon I've never used. Nikon would just be wrong to use. Tiffen are supposed to be the worst of the big names. Then you have different coatings, and I could go on all day. The most important thing is buy a filter at least as good as your lens.
