Canon filters are made by Tiffen. Generally not coated.
Hoya are coated but most use aluminum rings which are not always as easy to
put on an remove from your lens.
The thinner the filter/ring the harder it becomes. I get around this using a
candle and rubbing it on the threads.
Hama I would bet are OEM'd from Marumi or Hoya. B+W and Heliopan are made in
Germany and use Schott glass (a high end manufacturer, or what many would
say is the German equivalent to Hoya), but they use brass rings are go on
and off lenses like a hot knife through butter. Typically they are more
solidly constructed.
