F.Y.I., tripod collar adapter (Canon PART number YG2 - 0500 NOT AN ACCESSORY) will allow the use of tripod collar type B (standard on many L lenses) with 100 f/2.8 USM Macro. The adapter fits neatly onto the lens locating at three detents. The tripod collar fits over the adapters four lugs in the same way as it would on a lens. Smoothness of rotation is compromised but otherwise it works very well.
