Hi Craig,

Does the adapter just slide on and off? I could not see any retaining lugs
on the lens barrel (like there are when using the Tripod Mount Ring B on a
bigger lens). 

After your reassuring words, I think I will run the risk. So I placed an
order for a "Adapter Tripod Socket" with Canon Canada Parts Desk. It is on
backorder, so it might be several months before it comes in.

If anyone else is interested I have the details (phone number, price, etc)
fresh to hand.

P.S. Does this ring fit any other EOS device? E.g. MP-E 65mm macro
