I purchase two new EOS 3's back in March of last year. I noticed that they
seemed a little underexposed but ruled it to new user error. Then I sent
one of them in to Canon service to have them install the firmware upgrade
which allows the programming of the AF buttons on the big teles (CF-19).
When I got it back I happened to be doing some testing when I noticed that
the two cameras were metering differently on the same subject. The recently
returned camera was metering 2/3 stop lower than the other camera on the
exact same subject. I sent the other camera off for the firmware upgrade
and now they match. I also don't notice underexposure anymore. The
upgrades were free as they were done under warranty.
