That should be simple once you'll know how much money you want to invest and
what exactly do you need.

For amateur photography, Elan7[e] will do more than fine. It's quite
heavier, made out of aluminium,.. etc and has some more features like 4fps,
custom functions...

If you want more ruggedness, see Chips post. IMHO, 5 or 3 is even heavier
than 7e and that means more weight to carry around.
