Yeah, I followed those directions and did some test shots, but it didn't
seem to work--except on the first few shots that I took after taking the EF
500 out of the box.  After that, regardless of the setting on the EF 500, it
would fire every time.  There are rumors that only the EOS-1v and -3 allow
the master to be turned off, but I can't see why...:(
