With linear polarizer, AF and/or light metering may not be accurate. For

If you have bad lens, it doesn't matter what filter you have as the
image will be bad anyway. If you have good lens, why ruin the image with
bad (cheap) filter?

Ask for the models / makers, you can then get better comments from here.

All I can recall, hoya, B+W, tiffen are ok makers. b+w being the most
expensive brand.
