Right :) Well, the camera was brand new then, and he wanted to sell me
everything that could go with it. I felt a little tricked at the time,
but I've later sent him many warm thoughts for convincing me. This was
my first SLR ever.

This is what I thought after reading various articles. Since I
couldn't find any direct reference to the 420 EZ, I just wanted to
make sure.

Hm.. I was hoping you wouldn't ask ;)

No, seriously. After having used the manual modes a lot more, I find
I'm not very happy with the operation/dislay of the metered exposure
level. The way I have to turn wheel - press button - turn wheel -
press button, to see if the metered exposure level is correct
(according to the meter), showing OP, oo or CL. In the newer models,
there seemed to be a continuous meter displayed in the viewfinder,
which I liked a lot better. I'm not very good at explaining this, but
since you have both cameras, maybe you see what I mean?

Mind! I only had a very brief introduction to a 300, so please correct
me if I'm wrong about this. The salesman said that this is the same as
in the 3. I haven't yet seen a 3 "live", they don't seem to be very
common around here...

Other reasons for wanting a newer model:
Multiple exposures. I definitely want this.
Auto Exposure Bracketing. I do want this.
Shutter speeds higher than 1/2000 sec. I think I would want this.
And, eventually, I want faster AF. When I get newer lenses, the setup
will be faster than the 650. I want to shoot roadracing and other
motorcycle (in action) pictures, and have found the 650 to be a little
slow here.

Does all this sound reasonable?
Any and all hints are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Grethe
