A tiny little 3229 with a 600/4!!?  You just lock it into one position
and do all your positioning with the monopod, right?    I actually
have two of those 3229s (one QR) and really don't like them.  I find
that when loosened slightly to elevate or depress the lens that they
skip, catch and are just generally unpleasant.  Knob is too close to
the head for a good comfortable grip,  gripe, bitch, moan . . . :-O
