Hi Harvey, I suggest the following "required-reading" in the following link. http://groups.google.com/groups?ic=1&selm=3956D5C4%2EB35FE0F1%40nospam.net If you want to use SERVO AF, you have to remember that this mode is RELEASE PRIORITY for the first shot, then FOCUS PRIORITY for subsequent shots. That means that the first shot with SERVO AF could be out of focus, particularly if you only release one shot at a time. I was recently shooting some Gannets at L'�le Bonaventure using my EF 100-400 IS USM on an Elan 7E. On the Elan 7E, the seven-point autofocus couples perfectly with ECF. I can hold the shutter button half-pressed, then change AF points by using ECF to follow the bird even thought it is not perfectly centered in the viewfinder.
