It's all a matter of the brightness of the projector.  Inexpensive units ( <
$2500) will typically be in the 800-1000 lumen range.  However, as I
mentioned, brighter projectors are coming out all the time.  There are some
even in the 4000+ lumen range. These are like your own portable Sun and are
very bright even in a brightly lit room.  Cost goes up substantually as
brightness and resolution increases.
