Unless the viewfinder gets masked off, it is quite impossible to shoot any other way than for what you are seeing. In other words, shooting 4:3 while looking at a 3:2 picture in the viewfinder is not humanly possible. The two great things about the current crop of p/s digicams is the much more harmonic (for non-landscape shooters) aspect ratio, and everything always being in focus. DOF is an accidental consequence of imperfect optical laws (yes nature is quite imperfect), and excessively selective DOF looks contrived. If you disagree, I challenge anyone to name a list of painters who used narrow DOF in their work (or painters who painted in black and white, for that matter). That said, I would like to have the D60 for in the studio. I hear the pixels are really much cleaner than those of the 5Mpix prosumer cams. Does anyone know if the dynamic range is more extended than with the 5Mpix cams? I mean, I'm very concerned with blown-out highlights.
