Hello everyone: Accept my apologies if this has been asked too much before. I assume many people can face this, so here it goes.
I wanted to buy a good camera for more than two years, and I did it until I was able to pay for an EOS1, used but in great shape, since the begining I've been interested in the quality of the pictures I take. The EOS1 came with a Canon EF28-70 II which gives me pretty decent results from my point of view and experience level. Now I would like to get a new lens. My opinions of what to buy have changed during the past 6 months. First I thought it would be good to buy an extreme-zoom, 28-200 or 28-300, but I've read they are not that good. After that I considered a 50mm 1.8, I've read prime lenses are much better than zooms. Other times I want a 70-200 or 75-300 to expand my focal lens ratio. What to buy? Canon? Other brand? I know the answer will be "it depends", but I guess there could be some kind of consensus and many of you are experts. I'm not a pro, but would like to become one. I'm into photography as a serious hobbist and like take travel and people pictures. "L" lenses are deffinitely out of my budget for now. I appreciate your time.
